lost … (between) … found
the recent lost and found assignment was about finding important things that went missing.
look back on lost and found completed assignments and focus on that space between lost and found.
that runaway monk! think of all the people that missed him at the monastery. (they had valued his cooking for years!) think about the kickball players who realized a new teammate (he proved himself an invaluable asset to that game!) consider the after he was lost and the before he was found. what shape does value take in the space between lost and found?
lost … (invaluable/value) … found
the recent lost meaning assignment was about perspective. do things change absolutely? can something lost ever be found the same?
look back on completed assignments and examine what is happening in the time between lost and found.
we outgrew the telephone in favor of the cell phone. we lose things intentionally in order to find other things. think about this evolution as a function of time between lost and found. and though we try not to abandon our appreciation for things historic (despite their irrelevancies) think about the meanings we try to preserve, over time, between lost and found.
lost … (abandoned/evolved) … found
the adventureclubinteractive assignment this week is to investigate between lost and found.
lost … detachment/attachment … found
lost … forgotten/realized … found
lost … forever/never … found
lost … loser/winner … found

lost … search/rescue … found

lost … because/therefore … found
lost … brain/heart … found

” i have a bowlful of coins sitting on my bedside table. I do not have a bowlful of dollar bills sitting on my bedside table. obviously. ”
Jacob Goldstein- npr / planet money.
when will the dollar coin replace the dollar bill?
the issue remains at large- years after senators introduced legislation that would stimulate the circulation of dollar coins.
the government is exhausting all options to save money- by making more money, of course…
americans are complaining that change is too heavy to carry around- oh the burden!
environmentalists say that green bills are not so green- the waste generated by trashing old bills is shockingly wasteful…
canadians, australians and europeans all successfully replaced small denomination notes with coins- everyone else is doing it!
who knows? do you care?
this week adventureclubinteractive is celebrating spare change while it still is what it is.
celebrate with us- the dollar coin, the paper bill and the penny!
appreciate, realize, discover and remember all the ways to spend, save, carry and spare- a little change- for a lot of adventure!
hit the town with your camera and the following list. this week’s assignment is a photographic scavenger hunt…

i thought i gave myself some good hourglass hips by adding another mirror to my reflection.
what came first? the tree or the driving range?
they say you should never purchase your first pendulum. when i found out a particular friend of mine had never used one before i was shocked. in mind of her amazing crystal collection i bought her this pendulum that uncoils itself just enough to replace the stone or object that it holds. so depending on the day, the energy or the feeling- she can practice her first pendulum with her choice of powers.
or more specifically, a reflection. i love taking pictures in the mirror. i love the flash and the bizarre light bubbles that occur from time to time.
i still do not know how to use this pendulum. a friend of a friend made it just for me. she charged the crystal and sent it in a shiny gold bag. i wish i did know how to use it. it takes practice and getting to know you time. i will start tomorrow.
do you remember she-ra? i used to watch her show and play with she-ra and he-man figurines as a child. i found this dvd at walmart for $.96 and have recently started watching it again. the story is surprisingly relevant to our time. pretend? perhaps not.
just a little bit.

i had to look up the word in the dictionary. it was the first thing i did on monday when this assignment was posted- for how can you find something if you don’t know what you are looking for. (too true! i tell myself this a lot about my lot in life…) janus refers to the roman god of passages and doorways. he is represented by two heads facing opposing directions. it can be seen as one face looking back at the past and one face looking towards the future. as an adjective it refers to being double sided and dualistic. “janus faced” is concerned with polarities or contrasts- marked by deliberate deceptiveness especially by pretending one set of feelings and acting under the influence of another.
this picture was taken based on the latter definition. it is a tip box at my local coffee shop. it is open on a hinge, conveniently displaying the skulls facing outwardly from each other. the coffee girls are very sweet and daily deserving of my cash gratuity. i never noticed this art on their tip box before and even if i had i would never have thought it representative of anything or anyone… two-faced. are those fake smiles they flash me? do they give me whole milk when i ask for skim? do they truly appreciate my business and my gesture of appreciating theirs?

i hear it is bad luck to face an elephant to the outside. i have no idea why, but i always try to avoid that orientation.
