strawberry basil crisp dessert
i am contributing a recipe for the culinary adventure assignment that has made itself a habit in my kitchen of late. strawberries, oatmeal and a lot of sugar are the basic ingredients. this dessert is easy to make and sure to please. the adventurous ingredient in my strawberry basil crisp is one drop of basil essential oil. only one drop of the pure stuff gives this entire dessert (that serves eight) a touch of the herbaceous without sacrificing any of the sweetness.
strawberry basil crisp recipe
1 cup uncooked oatmeal
1 cup flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup raw almonds
1/4 cup shredded coconut
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup raw sugar
3 cups strawberries
1 drop basil essential oil
preheat oven to 350 degrees. grease an 8 x 8 baking pan.
add one drop basil essential oil. mix well.
stir in chopped almonds and coconut.
add 1/2 the crumbly mixture to baking pan. pack firmly.
layer in the strawberries.
top the strawberry layer with the remaining 1/2 of crumbly mixture. pack firmly.
cover with aluminum foil or bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes.
