challenge: record time.

what do you do all day?

this is a valid and important question, and one that when we really stop to think about it, not many of us can answer accurately.

keep a record of how you spend your time.  you might be surprised at your findings!

there are many ways to do this.  here are few ideas you can use and/or combine:

  1. list:  keep a running list of activities and time frames.  for example, wake up 8am.  shower 8:05-8:20am.  breakfast 8:25-8:40am, drive to work 8:45-9:15am, work 9:15-12pm, lunch etc…
  2. totals: using your list, tally up the hours in your day.  do you spend 8 hours sleeping, 8 hours at work and 8 hours doing leisure activities?  do you spend 4 hours commuting to and from work?  do you spend 6 hours a day watching tv?
  3. visual chart:  create a visual chart of your findings, for example a bar graph or a pie chart.
