There are few instances in real life when a “universal truth” is not only clearly stated, but preceded by the direction: “write this down.” At present, I can remember only one such instance. Of course many people have instructed me to write down various things, most of which turned out to be inconsequential and forgettable. However, in the fall 1999 I listened and I wrote and I have remembered this “truth” ever since.
“There is no such thing as an ugly baby.”
I listened. I wrote, “there is no such thing as an ugly baby.” If I remember correctly, the list continued on after the first truth but quite frankly I cannot remember the rest. That one must have been the most important.
